Welcome to the Catleya Domain, wine domain in organic conversion

Unique wines, obtained from French expertise and the flavors of Oltenia

The estate

History

The vineyard of Catleya is located in Corcova, a small village located in the Oltenia region of Romania.

Corcova has a rich history. It was during the Belle Époque period in Paris that Prince Antoine Bibesco, Marcel Proust and their friends were tasting the Corcova wines, while evoking the pear flowers of this mythical place.

Vine and terroir

The soil

Soil is both the substrate on which the vine grows and its main power source. A great deal of attention is given to this element.

The soils specific to the area are brunisols silty clay, which are rich in iron. They are located on slopes facing either due East or South.

Winemaking

Harvesting

At Catleya Estate, everything is put in place to harvest perfectly healthy, ripe grapes, rich in color, aromas and quality tannins every year.

Near harvest, Laurent Pfeffer, our oenologist, regularly tastes the grapes of each variety and at the same time monitors, through analysis, the evolution of their maturity.
